A professional approach to being an amateur

The term ‘amateur’ is often used when talking about someone who is of a lower level than that of a ‘professional’, but this does not always have to be the case. The true meaning is essentially someone who is doing something for the love of it and in a lot of sports, including Mixed Martial Arts, the amateurs can be some of the country’s best.

In my last post I spoke about my decision to pursue a career in MMA. When I made this decision I also decided that I didn’t just want to be good, I wanted to be great. The first step to a career in MMA is to gain your experience on the amateur circuit before turning pro. This is extremely important if your goal is longevity.
